| Members meet Thursday evenings
at Archway
School Pool for swimming and training sessions. The pool
is allocated to the snorkeling section from 6:30pm until 07:30pm
then the pool is used for diver training until 09:30pm. We generally
meet afterwards in The Old Crown pub at Paganhill for socialising
and planning our weekend activities.
The main sport diving season generally starts around March and
ends around November. Typically we dive once every second weekend,
with the majority of the diving consisting of day trips to the
south coast. We dive from the shore and from boats.
Diving trips further afield e.g. Cornwall, usually involves a
weekend away staying in B&B's or camping.
The coastline of the British Isles has a lot to offer in terms
of marine life and ship wrecks all making for an interesting underwater
experience.
Special courses are often arranged during the year, e.g. life-saving,
photography, snorkel instructor, boat handling, etc. As members
of BSAC you can take them throughout the country, though they are
often run within the branch or in conjunction with other local
branches. |
